Pros: it's within easy driving range of hotels and a smaller city. Cons: Literally everything else. The people are rude, you can't bring your own food, the prices have quadrupled, the mountain is no different, the new lift sucks and is broken half the time. The social Media Manager is an asshole to anybody that comments something even remotely critical. The food sucks and is way overpriced and you can easily spend close to 100 dollars on a family of 4 for just food!! Stay away from this place go to Pebble Creek or Targhee.

New ownership, most locals aren’t impressed with the changes. It’s gone up in price but the food and experience hasn’t necessarily increased. The new lift is in a weird spot that makes it difficult to teach beginners and I miss 4th lift. I learned to board here but I’ll be going elsewhere.

Pricing, food, management.
They made all sorts of promises when they sold the season passes most of which they took away during the summer. The lifts break down often and they wont say anything anywhere about it. I get hung up on 9 out of 10 calls if I even start to ask about something broken. They shut the cameras down when it starts to show something not good for them. I have heard from multiple people about how anyone that says anything bad about them gets banned. They remove negative posts from Facebook. The website is a joke with zero information about snow levels or lifts that are running. The list keeps going on and on.
Close to idaho falls.
Management lies and only cares about money.

The price increase is so much that it is not affordable for families. They used to have a homeschooling day every week and they were packed with homeschooling families. That perk has stopped. Also when we got passes last year for the 22/23 season in November, right now for the 23/24 passes are the same price as then. Which their discount price is so short it was not even a month. So Kelly canyon has made it even more expensive. Also I was planning a birthday party at the mountain which would bring them business and I asked if we may have cake in the lodge and their answer was we do not allow outside food in the lodge and it is a law of Idaho. Which is not true to it being a law of Idaho. There are places in Idaho Falls that will let you bring your cake in for the party. Last year and this year they promised to upgrade the terrain park but have failed to follow through. Which is a big disappointment. So not to happy with this mountain anymore for their increased pricing every year now and their failed follow through with what they promise. One more thing, the big lift was closed lot this year.

I like to know new things and being away from the old. And rusty . Start fresh is beautiful. Then I ever know what is lieing ahead of me. A fresh start with a fresh look

This use to be a small town ski hill. -USE TO BE. New management swooped in from Cali and made "changes". Basically they changed the prices and the name to include "resort". It's far from a resort but sadly also NOT a hometown ski hill any longer. They didn't change much, but they did add a patio, a new "high speed quad" which is not any faster and is broken half the time, they updated the interior with wood paneling....but mostly they just tripled the prices. They raised the prices for the school ski program so much that many schools can no longer offered the program or had low participation because families could no longer afford the program. They turned this family friendly hill to a private elitist hill. They have made the prices so high that the average family can longer afford to spend the day up at the ski hill. Forget buying a season pass, their family passes went from up to 6 members to now only 4 and the season price literally tripled. They also made it so you can't bring in outside food and if you get hungry you or your kids get hungry you will need to purchase a $15-20 burger (no cheese) and $5-8 drink and basically take out a loan to feed your family. Their snow season is really unpredictable and most years ends by late February and doesn't start till after the new year. Later in the season they stop running most lifts and much is just ice. They did purchases snow making machine but its insufficient and cannot cover the mountain. The changes made do not justify the prices especially for a two- hardly a 3 month season. Tbh if your going to pay these prices you might as well hit world class sking/boarding at the same price at Targhee or Jackson Hole.

They did get new management but the new updates aren’t much better. The new lift seats more but it’s still just as slow as the old lifts. The snow always sucks, the hills suck as well. You spend most of your time sitting on the lift because the runs are so short. It’s overpriced and has drastically deteriorated over the years.
Good for beginners
Super overpriced, absolute dump

At least ten people were aghast that I chose Targhee and Kelly on my trip rather than Targhee and JH. My answer? I always have the best days at small mountains. That's an unwavering truth in my life. It's not crowded, it's affordable and family-oriented, and the vibe is absolutely unbeatable. The new owners and staff are so proud and excited about their vision for the future that it's contagious. Can't wait to go back.
Great vibe, affordable, accessible
Limited expert terrain

We have season passes to this great local resort. I feel very privileged to live close enough to ski there on a regular basis. The new owner has put a HUGE amount of work into the place, adding a great new lift, re-doing the entire base lodge, hiring friendly people, and making it a go-to place locally. I would say my only negative is the parking lot, but we are very hopeful it will have some of the same attention given to it that the rest of the resort has soon.
Very friendly fun experience.
Parking lot gets very messy when it gets warmer.
